HYGIENE
Good hygiene around feeders and bird baths is very important throughout the year, but most especially during the summer months. The warmer weather can make food go off quicker, and can provide ideal conditions for harmful bacteria to proliferate. It is important to clean feeders regularly, and to always exercise sensible hygienic care; clean the feeders out of doors (not in the kitchen sink!), keep separate brushes for the purpose, and wash hands after finishing the job.
