SECOND-HAND BINOCULAR SCHEME

In India, interest in birds and an effective bird’s protection movement is being restricted due to the lack of basic equipment and information.

Optical equipment and guide books play an important role in conservation and educational projects from remote parts of North east to Bihar where the level of awareness for bird conservation in very low. Many small NGOs are doing remarkable work with little or no funding. With their limited resources it’s very difficult for them to but costly optical equipment and guide books on flora and fauna of India.

This is how you can help

Do you have old or unwanted optics or guidebooks collecting dust in your cupboards?

How will the scheme help?

The scheme helps in effectively carrying out scientific bird surveys, studying local migration patterns by small organisations and dedicated individuals. It helps to create awareness among school, college students and locals. It also helps in training local bird guides, birdwatchers, and forest staff and provides them with basic binoculars and guides.

How does the scheme work?

Second-hand optics and guide books are sent to Nature Forever Society.

After receiving the optics and guide books, we check their condition. Once examined, they are cleaned and minor repairs are carried out and stored safely until needed.

The equipment is then sent to the person or project who has requested it.

We appeal to corporates, individuals and NGOs to donate or sponsor optics and guide books.

We keep a record of where we send the equipment and take written assurance that the society/project will not sell the equipment for profit.

How can I support the scheme if I don’t have optics or guide book for donation?

Costs are incurred in packaging, repairing, communications and sending the optics safely across the country by reliable courier services. You can send a cheque or DD in the Name of “Nature Forever Society” to support this cause any help in this aspect will be highly appreciated.

What equipment can I send?

Binoculars, telescopes, field scopes, tripods, GPS, guide books, we can only use equipment that is in good working order.

How and where do I send them?

Please properly pack the equipments and courier it as it’s more secure and fast to the below mentioned address.
