DR. S. SUBRAMANYA
Ornithologist
Dr. S. Subramanya is an esteemed ornithologist with decades of experience in the field of birdwatching and conservation. With a doctorate degree in Agricultural ornithology, he has worked with the Bombay Natural History Society and BirdLife International in the UK. Dr. Subramanya has a keen interest in studying wetlands, waterbirds, heronries and threatened birds. Since his retirement, he has volunteered with the Karnataka State Forest Department, contributing significantly to ornithological conservation initiatives in the state. He has played a pivotal role in the declaration of Ramadevarabetta Vulture Sanctuary, Biodiversity Heritage Site at GKVK Campus, Puttenahalli Bird Conservation Reserve and Backwaters of Almatti Reservoir in Bagalkote district of Karnataka as a Conservation Reserve. Dr. Subramanya is also a Ramsar Site compiler and one of the eBird reviewers for Karnataka.
